In Memory

Frank Smith and his daughter Cherie Shaw-Robinson gave an interview to Soul Stories as part of RECIPE for Community: Stories from Denver's Past, a series of live, online interviews with Denver locals.

Soon after the interview, Frank passed away due to Covid-19.

Frank spent over 50 years developing beauty products and styling hair for the Black community in Denver. His daughter Cherie followed the family tradition and runs their family salon Final Phase. During the interview, when asked about something she is really proud of in life, Cherie told us it was “accomplishing the family business.” Frank responded that his proudest achievement was “being able to leave a family business.”

Frank was an entrepreneur, a pioneer, and a community-builder who brimmed with energy, vigor, and life. He had so much more to give to his family and community and will be missed by many.

Recipe Shared is dedicated to Frank Smith’s memory.
