To create Ms. Hazel: The Tour, the Core Cooks interviewed Ms. Whitsett of Northeast Park Hill by phone, unable to meet in person because of Covid. Once restrictions were lifted, we visited Ms. Hazel in her house to look at pictures and talk. Founder of the Northeast Women’s Center, Ms. Hazel was its leader for over 20 years. The Women’s Center created opportunity for education and community for over 30 years. (The center’s first location, 22nd and Oneida, is pictured in the video). An honorary mother of the neighborhood, Ms. Hazel has helped many young parents invest in their education.
